Chun-Li by FabienMater Chun-Li by FabienMater
Here's something rare from me : a fanart. But I guess everyone born in the 80s should draw Chun-Li at least once in their life, right?
So here's a very classical kicking Chun-Li.

I remember as a kid I wanted the SNES so bad to play Street Fighter II. Never had a chance to buy one. Anyways I played this game with a lucky friend who owned one. :)

Obviously Chun-Li character is (c) Capcom.

Street fighter has inspired a lot of great art on deviant and given people a lot of great memories. Our memories inspired us to do this: ryuxchunliproject.wordpress.co…

Thanks for the great picture. Made our day. :)

She's like every 80's/90's male gamer's dream girl...
Say, maybe I should do one myself...

Hehe, indeed.

I think it's quite exciting to draw such a character in a fighting pose.
If you didn't do so yet, then go for it! :)

I am such a rabid Chun Li fan that I installed a tv and SNES in my truck just so I could play the original SFII during downtime on the road.
This is an exceptional homage to the first and greatest lady of the fighting game genre!

Haha!! Playing SFII in the truck?! That's way cool!!

Thank you! I'm honored you think this artwork does justice to the lady!

I owned the original SFII and I was a Chun Li fan. I tended to play Dhalsim the most though since if you're good with him you're pretty much unbeatable. =p

Anyway, excellent fan art. I wonder if you just did it as an excuse to draw a girl in tights. ;) I like how it seems almost like a mix of your own style and the SF4 style of drawing.

So you're one of those lucky bastards who owned SFII! :XD:
I remember back then I tried a few characters, mostly Chun-Li and Blanka. Blanka was pretty efficient against Dhalsim thanks to his electric attack! :)

Come on! A girl in tights, that's what Chun-Li is all about! I wanted to draw her for so long. Thanks, I should look for her official artwork again, that's hard to find within those piles of fanarts (one more yeah!).

Someday I'd have to try SF4. The only fighting game I own is SoulCalibur 2 and 4.

Haha indeed although my parentage is completely legitimate. Never owned any of the other SF games but I owned the original for II.

That just meant you weren't playing against a sufficiently competent Dhalsim player. ;p Yoga Fire and Flame took care of the electricity. They somewhat balanced the characters a bit more in later iterations.

True. I think she was the tight lovers' first love. :giggle:

I love Soul Calibur 2. The series has rather declined since then. 3 had some interesting ideas but I missed some of the things they took out from 2. 4 wasn't great.

I don't remember how I played against Dhalsim. I think I tried to keep a good distance to escape from the yoga flame.
Anyways, I only played a few times so I wasn't really good at it. I was hitting all the buttons and found the electric attack by chance.
Then I repeated til death! :XD:

I love SoulCalibur 2 too! I'm a Nightmare player.
About SC4, there are things I like about it (like the character creation mode, the fact they fixed some of the priority issues, the new characters Tira, Hilde and Setsuka) and things I don't like (the new story mode gets on my nerves, Ivy can't use her weapon as a whip anymore, Taki's blade is shorter so it's even harder to hit the enemy, the ring out are more random, the guard breaks are shorter and inefficient while playing slow characters).

Haha I see.

Did they even have a real story mode in 4? I was sad they cut the mission mode which I loved in 1 and 2. I didn't mind them cutting the weird Chronicles of the Sword that they did in 3 although it would have been cool if they kept it.
